Cardamom prices gained 0.31% to Rs 940 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in creating fresh positions on the back of improved demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May rose by Rs 2.90, or 0.31%, to Rs 940 per kg in a business turnover of six lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April edged higher by 60 paise, or 0.06%, to Rs 971.50 per kg in 184 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of rising demand in the spot market mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
