According to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, January 10 in LA County Superior Court, Mirage Entertainment as Carey's management sued FEG Entretenimientos for breach of contract, claiming their late payments gave Carey the right to cancel and be paid in full, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Attorney Bryan Freedman wrote in the complaint, "In the music industry everyone knows the familiar story of the deceitful promoter that promises to pay and fails to deliver." He continued, "This lawsuit is filed in part not only to confirm the multiple breaches of the contracts by FEG... But to warn the artistic community not to trust any promises from FEG."
