Case against husband, in-laws for dowry harassment

The Thane police have registered a case of dowry harassment and assault against a man, his parents and his sister.
Babasaheb Sawant (25), his father Popat Sawant (60), mother Shantabai Sawant (55) and sister Sunita Sunil Khandagale (32) allegedly beat up Priya, his 22 years old wife, for dowry, and kept her locked inside the house so that she could not contact her parents.
Senior inspector J V Babar of Kalwa police station said finally the woman escaped from the house one day and reached her parents' house in Navi Mumbai. Following which her parents lodged a complaint last night.

Police have registered a case under section 498 A of IPC (subjecting a married woman to cruelty) and other relevant sections. Nobody has been arrested yet as probe is on.
