Two armed men today looted jewellery and cash from a house in Randhawa Nager locality of industrial town Mandi Gobindgarh in broad daylight.
Police said that at around 1 pm, the duo entered the house of Karan Syal. At the time, her daughter-in-law Ruchi was alone at home with her baby girl.
The men, said to be in their twenties, had their faces covered. They threatened Ruchi with a pistol and a knife and made off with cash and jewellery, police said.
When Ruchi tried to resist them, the duo hit her on the head with a blunt object, police said.
The woman raised an alarm after the duo fled. The neighbours reportedly chased the duo but failed to catch them.
Police said they were collecting CCTV footage from a nearby house to zero in on the robbers. A case has been registered.
