Cash, jewellery worth lakhs stolen from BJP leader's house

Cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees were allegedly stolen from the house of a BJP leader in Kotwali area here while he was away, police said today.
The thieves had entered the residence of BJP district President Pankaj Gupta last night when he was away attending a wedding in Ghaziabad, after breaking open the lock of the main gate, they said.
The robbers dashed off with cash worth Rs 4 lakhs apart from gold jewellery, police said.
Gupta was informed about the incident by neighbours who spotted the broken lock on the gate.
An FIR has been registered in the incident, police said, adding that no arrests have been made so far.
