Marketmen attributed the rise in castor seed prices to higher bets by participants on robust domestic and global demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed for delivery in the current month went up by Rs 78, or 1.72 per cent, to Rs 4,603 per quintal, with an open interest of 120 lots.
Also, castor seed for delivery in May was trading higher by Rs 68, or 1.48 per cent, to Rs 4,669 per quintal, in an open interest of 99,240 lots.
