The Central Administrative Tribunal today stayed the recent transfer of seven IAS officers and an IPS officer by the state government at the direction of the Election Commission in the run-up to the May five Karnataka Assembly polls.
Allowing the Original Applications by the seven IAS officers who are Deputy Commissioners and one IPS Officer who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police here, challenging their transfers, Judge Shanthappa directed stay of the impugned order.
The OAs had been filed on the grounds that the transfers were violative of the service condition rules and also EC's own guidelines for transfer of officials.
The matter was adjourned to May 27 for further hearing.
