According to RK Singh, Police Inspector Sikandrabad, five men were trying to steal calves in their mini-truck when they were spotted and surrounded by locals of Moradabad village in wee hours today.
While four of them managed to escape one was caught and beaten to death, the officer said.
Identity of the dead man is yet to be established.
