CBCS should be executed without any glitches : Minister

West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee today said the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) which is already in place in 10 universities of the state, should be implemented without any glitches in others.

The other universities must do whatever is needed for implementing the CBCS, Chatterjee told reporters.

To a question if he had advocated for curtailment of leaves of college-university teachers to ensure that CBCS was a success, Chatterjee said, "I have not asked for lessening the number of leaves of the teachers.

"But I have said that a university needed to do whatever it deems fit to ensure that CBSC is rolled out successfully," he said.

The CBCS provides a learning platform wherein the student has the flexibility to choose his/her course from a list of elective, core and soft skill courses.

The minister said e-pension for teachers in government and government-aided higher educational institutions from the next financial year.

On the problems faced by four state universities to run long distance courses due to less than adequate NAAC score, Chatterjee said, "These four universities should go to Delhi and talk to the HRD ministry for securing nod from the UGC for running long distance courses."
