It is alleged that Rs 2.5 lakh were taken from each candidate to help in changing the optical marks response (OMR) sheets, at the evaluation stage, which were left empty by them, CBI sources said.
CBI has arrested Basant Lal Shah, the then Deputy Chief Personnel Officer, Railway Recruitment Cell, North Central Railway, Allahabad, Anoj Kumar Singh and Vinod Kumar Mishra, Directors of private firm entrusted with evaluation and middleman Sunil Kumar Rajak, the sources said.
During the course of investigation, it came to light that the then Deputy CPO, who was also the Chairman of the recruitment committee, in connivance with the directors of Evaluating Agency based at New Delhi had allegedly made manipulations in the original OMR sheets by inserting answers to questions which were not actually attempted by candidates in the examination, she said.
