CBI nabs Puducherry govt official for accepting bribe

: A Puducherry Home department official was nabbed red handed by sleuths of the anti-corruption branch of CBI for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 to process extension of a visa.
An official release from CBI-Anti Corruption Branch said a trap was laid to nab S Manivannan, working in the office of the Chief Secretary in the department, who demanded Rs 3,000 from the complainant to process the visa application of his mother.
However, details of the complainant was not revealed.
Manivannan was produced before the CBI Cases Special Court judge, who remanded him to judicial custody till August 14, it said.
Searches were also conducted at his residence and further investigation was on, the release said.
