CBI sources said the case was registered against the then Chief Medical Officer (Family Welfare) Kalawati Shukla, the then assistant chief medical officer R K Sharma and two others posted in Badaun under IPC sections related to cheating and forgery, besides provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Agency spokepseson R K Gaur said the case relates to causing an alleged loss of Rs 15.38 lakh to the exchequer due to irregularities in purchase of medicines.
"It was alleged that then CMO (Family Welfare); then ACMO and then administrative officer had fraudulently connived with the private person and purchased IFA tablets and Mebendazole tablets from private firm of Kolkata at exorbitant rates.
Further investigation is on.
