Ahead of the CBSE board exams, the pre-examination counselling for students and parents will begin on February 2 and will continue till April 20.
The aim is to help students prepare well during the examinations and overcome exam-related stress, said CBSE in a statement.
The class X and class XII examination of CBSE board will begin from March 2. In all, about 13 lakh students would sit for the class X test and about 10 lakh students would appear for the class XII examination.
The CBSE annual counselling, the 18th in the series, is an outreach programme which is designed keeping the heterogeneity of students population and geographical spread.
Multiple modes of communication, such as telephonic counselling, question answer columns in newspapers and online counselling through CBSE website, are used to reach out to more and more examinees during this phase.
The counselling is offered by trained counselors and principals from within CBSE-affiliated schools and outside India.
This year 72 principals, trained counsellors from CBSE- affiliated government and private schools and some psychologists will participate in tele-counselling and address exam-related psychological problems of the students.
62 of them are available in India while 10 are located in Nepal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Al Khobar, Sultanate of Oman), the UAE (Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah) and Kuwait.
Students can dial a toll free number 1800 11 8004 from any part of the country which will give centralised access to CBSE helpline.
While the general queries will be answered by the operators, students will be connected to the principals or counselors in case of exam-related anxiety or stress.
