The parliamentary panel on consumer affairs, in its recommendations on the Consumer Protection Bill, 2015, has called for stringent provisions, including jail term up to five years and penalty of up to Rs 50 lakh if a celebrity endorsed product misfires.
When asked about the same, the "Brothers" star said, "I think a law has not been passed, only talks are on. When the rule will come, we will follow the law. It is our responsibility to known more when we're endorsing a product. But we don't manufacture those products."
Sidharth said actors, through brand endorsements, become the face of the products but never claim to have manufactured the same.
"There will be some points under the law too, and we will follow what the government tells us to. We don't manufacture, we just become the face and communicate like the way we promote our films. We are not claiming that we have made the products," the 31-year-old actor said.
