Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today rued "stagnant" central budgetary allocation for Delhi in the last 12 years but said despite not getting any hike allocation the city government succeeded in developing world-class infrastructure.
She has been making a strong pitch for a significant increase in central allocation for Delhi, saying it has been stagnant at Rs 325 crore per annum for over a decade.
"Despite not getting any hike in central share for the last 12 years, Delhi has succeeded in commissioning huge world-class infrastructure. The state is not only prosperous but has also become self-reliant," Dikshit said.
She was speaking at a function after inaugurating three new school buildings in Tri Nagar area of the city along with Union Minister Kapil Sibal.
Dikshit also laid the foundation of a number of new school buildings.
Sibal highlighted the measures taken by the UPA government for the education sector and said the "outstanding achievement" of UPA government in education sector is enforcement of the Right to Education Act in the country.
