Centre asked to ensure funds forr SSK, MSK

West Bengal Panchayat and Rural Development minister Subrata Mukherjee today said the state government has written to the Centre for ensuring funds for the state-run Shishu Shiksha Kendra (SSK) and Madhyamik Shiksha Kendra (MSK) so that vacancies of teachers can be filled up.
"As part of our initiative to fill up the vacancies in SSKs and MSKs all over the state, we have written to the Centre to ensure proper fund flow. We will also impart distance learning training to all teachers in MSK, SSK centres," Mukherjee said.
Sishu Siksha Mission director Swati Bandyopadhyay told PTI later that there were 16,100 schools under the SSM under primary and upper primary (5th-8th standard) segments.

As per the Right to Education Act the government wishes to impart distance learning training to an estimated 45,000 teachers under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) project and the training would be over by 2019, she said.
On the funds, she said the government runs the siksha kendras, many of which are located in remote areas, but the fund comes from Centre.
West Bengal Power Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay said the teachers should self-assess themselves on this day, that is Teachers Day.
He said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has asked every ward in the state to show honour to the teachers in their respective locality.

Hundreds of teachers in SSKs and MSKs attended the function which was also graced by other dignitaries.
