In a meeting between Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport and Shipping and Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadanvis, the former directed the officials to complete the work by March 16.
Gadkari also raised the issue of law acquisition for the project from Panvel to Indapur and from Indapur to Zharap. To this, the chief minister assured him of expediting the process at the earliest.
The two patches---Panvel to Indapur and from Indapur to Zharap---are the part of NH 17, which goes all the way to Kochi in Kerela after passing through Goa and Karnataka. Over the past few years, the government has been undertaking the work of widening the road owing to the fatal accidents and large volume of traffic.
