Centre committed to prosperity of farmers: Radha Mohan Singh

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh today pledged the NDA government's commitment to effect turnaround of the farmers.
"We are at work to ensure prosperity of the farmers for which a number of schemes have been launched to push growth of agriculture and allied sectors," Singh told a seminar organized by the 'National Bee Board and Agriculture and Cooperative Department' at Gandhi Maidan here.
Stating that the farm sector's growth was imperative for overall development and prosperity of the people, Singh said he would like to bring prosperity of Gujarat to the rest of the country to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a prosperous India.

"We will sit and rest till we succeed in ensuring turnaround of the farm sector and bring smiles on the faces of the farmers," the Agriculture Minister said.
He said that the Centre has best interests of the farmers, rural youths, tribals, marginal farmers, landless people and labourers in mind for which a slew of schemes have been launched to generate employment opportunities for them.
Singh also emphasized on bee farming as a productive work and said Bee Boards have been set in the states too to generate employment for rural people.

Amid raging debate on the Land Acquisition Bill with the opposition charging the BJP-led NDA government with being 'anti-farmer,' the Agriculture Minister charged the political rivals with sheding crocodile's tear on the issue.

Going a step further, he charged the kins of some powerful people running the erstwhile UPA government with usurping the land of farmers in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
Singh, a five-term Lok Sabha MP from Motihari, also slammed the JD(U) government in Bihar for carrying out smear campaign against the Centre on the 14th Finance Commission recommendations.
