Centre names NDRF chief

The process of filling vacancies in central police forces has begun with the appointment of O P Singh as full-time Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) besides a minor rejig at senior posts in BSF, CRPF and CISF.
A 1983-batch IPS officer of UP cadre, Singh will now be the full fledged Chief of NDRF in the rank of Additional Director General for his remaining period of central deputation till January 15, 2018.
He was posted in CISF and NDRF was an additional charge given to him.
R K Pachnanda, who was posted in Additional Director General (operation) in CRPF, has been shifted to CISF in the same rank and will be looking after the security of 59 civil airports in the country.
A 1983 batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre, Pachnanda, ran into controversy after his appointment in the CBI was opposed by agency Director Ranjit Sinha. He was finally posted to CRPF.
Among other posting was shifting of A P Maheshwari, a 1984 batch IPS officer of UP, has been shifted to BSF as Additional Director General. He is being adjusted against two posts of Special Director General in the force which have now been downgraded to the level of Additional Director General.
Ramesh P Singh, at present posted as Inspector General in CISF, has been promoted and posted as Additional Director General in BSF against the second vacant post of Special Director General. He is also a 1984 batch IPS officer from Odhisa cadre.
A 1984 batch IPS officer of Jharkhand cadre, D K Pandey has been appointed in place of Pachnanda. He was at present working as Inspector General in CRPF.
