The Centre's attention has been sought on the "rising neonatal mortality rate" among tribals in Kerala.
C K Janu, leader of NDA ally Janadhipathya Rashtriya Sabha (JRS), today met Union Health and Family Welfare minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in this regard.
The tribal leader told reporters here that the minister agreed to send a central team in a week's time to study the current situation of tribal children and their health.
"We apprised the minister about the health condition of our kids and the state government's apathy to solve the issue despite their claims. The minister agreed to send a team to prepare a report on this," she said.
She claimed the state government is yet to submit any proposal to tackle the "rising neonatal mortality rate".
The former Adivasi Gothra Maha Sabha leader also met Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Janu, who contested in the Assembly election under the banner of NDA from Sultan Bathery in Wayanad district, also demanded a school in each district for the uplift of tribal children.
Her other demands included a skill development project for tribal women which includes handicrafts and other self- employment programmes.
When asked about her party's inclusion in the ruling NDA, she told PTI that the BJP is yet to offer her any post in the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation or any other body.
