Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti assured Uttar Pradesh Water Resources Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, who called on her today, that her ministry would examine the proposal positively, a statement said.
The Uttar Pradesh Minister requested Bharti to release central assistance for Saryu Canal National Project on which the state has already spent Rs 522 crore.
Yadav also sought special central assistance for Uttar Pradesh's Bundelkhand region.
In the meeting, Bharti urged Uttar Pradesh's co-operation for various projects to be taken up by her Ministry at Mathura, Vrindavan and Kanpur.
