Centre would approve RAY for Hisar, Faridabad: Girija

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Girija Vyas today said that the Central Government would approve Rajiv Awas Yojna for Hisar, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh to provide houses to the poor.
She was addressing a gathering after launching the Rajiv Awas Yojna in village Bohar, Rohtak.
Congress MP from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda raised the demand of implementing this scheme in various cities of the state including Hisar, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh, before the Union Minister.
Accepting his demand to construct 1500 houses under the scheme in Rohtak, she announced construction of 2,000 more houses in the urban areas, an official release said here.
Vyas and Hooda also gave away certificates of houses to eligible beneficiaries under Rajiv Awas Yojna.
The Union Minister said that the Ministry is soon going to launch Livelihood Scheme in Rohtak. Under this programme, employment opportunities would be provided to women at their door steps.
Vyas said the UPA Government has decided to make the country slum free.
In this direction, 7,474 houses at a cost of Rs 766 crore would be constructed in Haryana only, she said.
