"CESC had given 1.40 lakh new connections," a CESC statemenet said. But, the net addition is 1.15 lakh considering disconnections during the year, a CESC official said.
At the end of 2013-14, its total consumers were 28.17 lakh.
The highest number of new connections in FY'14 was in Howrah (15.8 per cent), followed by Serampore area (13.37 per cent and Kolkata South West district 10.26 per cent.
CESC sources said the company has able to reduce the average time taken for providing new connections to 12 days against 14 days in 2012-13.
