Mukherjee was here to inaugurate the 29th convocation of Goa University.
When the function began, organisers requested the President and other dignitaries including Goa Governor Mridula Sinha, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and a large number of students present during the function to pay respects to the martyrs.
At least 25 personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were killed yesterday by Naxals' in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district.
Mukherjee had earlier strongly condemned the Naxal attack and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
