Chain snatcher, two jewellers arrested

A suspected chain snatcher involved in several criminal cases along with two jewellers who allegedly purchases stolen gold items from him, have been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi police.
With the arrest of 33-year-old Tinku Rai, police claimed to have solved four cases of snatching and one of auto theft.
The cops also arrested Mukesh Verma, 40 and Surender Soni, 37, who run jewellery shops in Shahdara and Ashok Nagar areas of Delhi, respectively, and allegedly used to receive stolen gold items from snatchers.
"A team of officers of Crime Branch led by Inspector Arun Chauhan and under the supervision of ACP Om Prakash Singh has apprehended a desperate snatcher and two receivers of snatched gold items," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
The team recovered two motorcycles, three gold earrings and five mobile phones from them.
They were arrested on Friday after the police received a tip that "Tinku would be coming near Saboli Fatak, East Gokalpur, Shahdara, Delhi".
"A trap was laid near Saboli Fatak, East Gokalpur, Shahdara, Delhi and accused Tinku Rai was arrested. He is an active snatcher of North-East district having 13 previous involvements," the officer said.
On his sustained interrogation, he disclosed that Mukesh and Surender were the receivers of snatched gold items and, therefore, they were also arrested, the officer said.
