The Chicago, Illinois native was chatting to MTV News reporter Meredith Graves behind the scenes of VMAs at the Madison Square Garden prizegiving in New York, when the "Formation" superstar walked up to her friend and hugged him from behind.
Chance initially appeared unfazed by the on-camera encounter, but once he realised the mystery fan was Beyonce, he began screaming in excitement as he jumped up and down.
"Oh my God, that was 'Yonce," he exclaimed, before dashing over to greet the singer.
