A bright sun shine greeted the residents of Chandigarh this morning, but the minimum temperature dropped three degrees below normal to settle more than two notches since yesterday.
Freezing cold waves swept Hisar in Haryana yesterday as the maximum temperature settled at 10.2 deg C, which was ten notches below normal, the MeT Department here said.
The minimum temperature at Hisar today settled at 6.7 deg C.
Freezing cold swept Ambala, which recorded a low of 4.8 deg C, two notches below normal.
In Punjab, piercing chill prevailed in Amritsar, where the minimum settled at 4 deg C. Ludhiana recorded a low of 6.6 deg C.
Patiala recorded a two degrees below normal minimum at 5.7 deg C.
Meanwhile, a MeT official here said that fog prevailed at many places in Punjab and Haryana in the morning today.
During the past few days, fog has adversely hit normal movement of road, rail and air traffic.
However, an official at the Chandigarh Airport today said that as weather was clear in the city the flights would operate normally from here, barring those flights which had already been cancelled by some airlines with prior notice.
