Chandy wants NDA govt to explain facts about demonetisation

Congress leader Oommen Chandy Thursday asked the BJP-led NDA government to explain the facts about demonetisation to the people in the wake of a RBI report that 99.3 per cent of the demonetised notes returned to the banks.

Chandy in a facebook post said the RBI report was proof that the demonetisation initiative could not fulfil the objectives for which it was launched by the government.

Unearthing black money, containing counterfeit notes and terrorism were the main objectives stated by the government during the time of demonetisation, Chandy said.

On the other hand, the common people were put through tough times and the unorganised sector was badly affected too, he said.

"Demonetisation is a big failure of the Narendra Modi government.I urge the prime minister to make it clear why he inflicted so much pain on our people," Chandy said.
