The charred body of an unidentified woman was today found along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway in Virar in neighbouring Palghar district, police said.
A police official said that the woman was possibly set ablaze in the early hours today, adding that a case of murder had been registered against unknown persons at Virar police station.
"The body has been sent for post mortem. Efforts are underway to apprehend those behind the crime," an official said.
