Television actor Manish Vishwakarma, best known as Mendak Prasad in the hit TV show 'Chidiya Ghar', has slipped into coma after he met with a road accident here last week.
On Sunday last, Manish was on his way to the sets of the show, aired on SAB TV, on his bike when he met with an accident. Reportedly, he was hit by a car from behind in suburban Goregaon.
The actor was first taken to civic-run KEM Hospital and later shifted to Kokilaben Hospital, a private multi- specialty healthcare centre in suburban Mumbai.
"He is still in coma. He is under medication. The accident was not that big but as time was wasted (in providing treatment)...He did not get proper medical attention at KEM hospital so things got worse," Manish's friend and co-actor Shilpa Shinde told PTI today.
When contacted Dr Ram Narain, Executive Director, Kokilaben Hospital, said, "He is critical. He is on ventilator."
"Manish is always punctual but that day when he did not reach the sets on time, a production scheduler called him almost 25 times on his mobile phone but got no response.
"Later, a cop answered the call and informed that Manish had met with an accident and was taken to KEM Hospital," Shilpa said.
"I heard doctors did a CT scan at KEM Hospital. One doctor said it was a case of brain hemorrhage, while another said he had spinal problem," she said.
