Chikka tied fifth in Taipei; Shubhankar, Khalin make cut

S Chikkrangappa made a fine upward move to tied fifth as he added one-under 71 in the second round of the Taifong Open, which has been reduced to 54-holes, here today.
After play was postponed in second round and begun only today, Chikka (70-71) was three-under 141 and three shots behind Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit leader Pavit Tangkamolprasert of Thailand (68).
Two-time ADT winner, Chikka, was the best Indian, while other Indians surviving the cut were Shubhankar Sharma (72-71) at one-under 145 and Khalin Joshi (72-74). Aman Raj, who was the best Indian after first round with a 69, missed out with a 78 in second round. He missed the cut by one shot.

Under blustery conditions second round was postponed at the USD 160,000 Taifong Open in anticipation of Typhoon Nepartak.
The cutline was set at two-over-par 146 with 58 players advancing into the third and final round tomorrow at the Taifong Golf and Country Club.
The Taifong Open is the second tournament to be shortened on the ADT schedule this season.
Defending champion Rattanon Wannasrichan of Thailand lurks in second place following a 71 while American Johannes Veerman and local hope Lee Chieh-po carded matching 70s to share third on 140 in what is the richest event on the ADT schedule this season.
