Nobel Laureate and child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi today said child-centric public policies and legislations must be prioritised for development of the nation.
"We must protect the dreams of millions of children. There is no bigger travesty than denying dreams of our children. As adults you must all demand that children be prioritised in our policies and enforcement of laws.
"An adult-centric development focuses only on the present, while child-centric development is aimed at the future," Satyarthi said while addressing the 4th Convocation and Founder's Day programme of O P Jindal Global University here.
Urging the youth to think as global citizens, the Nobel Peace Prize-winner said, "One must not dream big only for oneself but also for the nation and the world."
Delivering the Presidential Address for the ceremony Supreme Court judge Justice Chelameswar said, "Mere money making is not the only purpose of education. Human nature does not restrict to any code of conduct. Hence, the study of law becomes essential for honourable and peaceful society."
