China brings back over 400 fugitives hiding abroad

As many as 409 Chinese fugitives, including 15 listed in an Interpol red notice from China hiding overseas have been arrested as part a campaign, according to the government.
The "Fox Hunt 2016" campaign has seen the arrest of 272 fugitives and 137 others have been persuaded to return from 61 countries and regions, state-run Xinhua news agency quoted the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) as saying yesterday.
The MPS has sent 33 work groups overseas and they have managed to capture fugitives in Madagascar, Thailand, Peru, the Philippines, Ecuador, South Korea, Cambodia and Spain, among others.
Of the 409 fugitives, 38 are implicated in duty-related crimes, and 14 in smuggling crimes.

Thirty-three of them were at large for more than five years, including 12 for over 10 years, the MPS said.
