China expressway accident kills 12

As many as 12 people were today killed in central China when their bus toppled on a slippery expressway and a truck crashed into the ill-fated vehicle.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight on an interprovincial expressway in Xinxian County in Henan Province, the local government said in a press release.
Nine persons were pronounced dead at the scene and three others died later in hospital. Nineteen people were still in hospital, state-run Xinhua news agency reported, adding that all the injured were in stable condition.
Police have detained the drivers of the two vehicles for investigation.
