"Our collaborations are increasing and now we are looking forward to more such Indo-China collaborations in films," said Zhou Jiandong, deputy director general at Film Bureau of China.
"Xuan Zang" tells the legendary story of eminent Chinese monk Xuan Zang's 17-year journey to India to bring Buddhism to China.
The Sino-Indian epic film was released to positive reviews simultaneously in Chinese and Indian theatres earlier in the year.
"We are very much interested in promoting international exchanges," the official said recalling that a treaty was signed in 2014 to promote exchange between the two neighbouring nations.
China is also the focus country this year.
The Chinese film industry has seen a gigantic growth of 48 per cent last year.
This year, Jiandong said 608 feature films have been finished so far with an investment of 35.6 billion Chinese Yuan.
Chinese consul general Ma Zhanwu said the differences in their relationship with India is far outweighed by the similarities and shared interests.
"There is a lot of scope for exchange and cooperation in film-making, education, investment and trade," he said.
