Chowrasia, who was tied fifth in his previous start at the Panasonic Open India, came within a whisker of a top-10 but for a closing bogey on 18th on the final day.
While Chowrasia was the pick of the Indians, Jyoti Randhawa (70) finished tied 17th and Shiv Kapur (70) was tied 31st.
At the top Australia's Brett Rumford showed he is the man for the big occasion when he prevailed in a three-way play-off alongside compatriot Marcus Fraser and Scotland's Peter Whiteford to win the title.
Chowrasia after a steady one-under 69 was flying high with three birdies in a row from 10th to 12th and then added a fifth on 16th to come into the top-10. But then a bogey on the 18th was a bit of a dampner for Chowrasia.
"It was a mixed tournament. The first two days I was good off the tee and on the last day I putted well. By and large, the game was there in patches, but still the scoring could have been better. Having said the conditions were not easy on some of the days here," said Chowrasia.
Three-time Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand enjoyed his second top-10 finish on the Asian Tour after he equaled the course record of 65 to take a share of sixth place with Korea's Kim Hyung-sung, Scotland's Stephen Gallacher, Spain's Pablo Larrazabal and overnight leader Alexander Noren of Sweden on matching seven-under-par 281 total.
