"The principal has been granted bail by the ACJM's court in Barrackpore against a personal bond of Rs 5,000 and on condition she has to appear before the court on September 30," DCDD, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, Debashis Bez said here today.
Helen Sarkar, the principal of the school, was arrested for negligence of duty (Section 304A of IPC) on September 12, a day after the death of 11-year-old student Oindrila Das who was confined inside a toilet allegedly by her seniors in an ugly instance of ragging.
She was produced before the ACJM's court in Barrackpore on September 13, which remanded her to police custody for three days.
Another case was also registered against persons who ransacked the school on the basis of a complaint by a teacher of the school. 14 persons were arrested in this connection.
