Drug major Cipla today announced the creation of a 6-member 'Management Council' that will be the apex executive leadership team for the company.

Headed by Subhanu Saxena, Managing Director & Global Chief Executive Officer, the council will include Umang Vohra, Samina Vaziralli, Geena Malhotra (Global Head-Integrated Product Development), Ranjana Pathak (Global Head-Quality) and Prabir Jha (Global-Chief People Officer).

"This is part of the company's ongoing transformation journey to simplify decision making and improve operational excellence," Cipla Ltd said in a statement.

Vohra, currently the Global Chief Financial and Strategy Officer, has been made Global Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect.

He replaces Sudhanshu Priyadarshi who has quit Cipla.

The Mumbai-based company said the role of the Global COO has now been expanded to fully integrate end-to-end operations from making, supplying and selling our products, thereby simplifying the organisation.

Vohra will lead the generics and API businesses across all markets globally, it added.

"Additionally, he will now integrate technical services, global supply chain, global portfolio, business development & licensing and business planning functions," the company said.

He will continue with his assignment as the Global Chief Financial Officer of the company.

Besides, Vaziralli, Executive Director, will now be the company's global head for strategy, M&A, Cipla New Ventures and key partner relationships.

Saxena said: "We are simplifying our leadership structure to prepare Cipla for the next phase of our growth. This is a natural evolution at this stage of our plans."

Cipla stock closed at Rs 639.15, down 2.03%, on the BSE.
