The incident happened yesterday afternoon at Chandni Chowk metro station when CISF ASI Jagat Singh noticed an unattended bag at the X-ray baggage screening machine.
The official alerted his seniors and on verification, it was found that the bag contained Rs 1.53 lakh in cash.
On further checking, it was found that the bag was left behind by a resident of Kalimpong in West Bengal.
The commuter, identified as B K Gupta, later came to the station and after due diligence, he was given his bag which he said he had forgotten in a hurry and picked a different bag of the same type. He informed the metro authorities that the bag had the said amount of cash, a senior CISF official said.
