CISF to open a dozen skill centres in country: DG

The CISF will open a dozen training centres for the families of its troops as part of the National Skill Development Mission, a top officer said today.
The first such centre was today inaugurated on the campus of the 5th Reserve Battalion of the force here.
It will train the men and women of the force, their families and low medical category personnel in trades such as food preservation, handicrafts, apparel, beauty and wellness, jewelry making and mobile repairing.
"We propose to open about a dozen centres across our formations in the country. The initiative is a follow up of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) that we signed with the skill development ministry recently to develop required capabilities for not only our men but locals who live around our facilities," CISF Director General O P Singh said.

As part of the MoU, the force will provide the required infrastructure for learning sessions and the training will be imparted by experts brought in by the ministry.
The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will grant certificates to learners after completion of the course.

The MoU between the two arms of the government is aimed at facilitating the resettlement of security personnel through a second career post-retirement.
The collaboration aims to train and provide gainful employment to retired CISF personnel and their families, school students, youths, differently abled persons during five years starting from June 5 this year till 2022.

The 1.80-lakh personnel strong Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is tasked to guard country's major airports, vital infrastructure in the nuclear and aerospace domain among others.
