Twelve-year-old city swimmer, Manav Mehta today successfully covered the 36km distance between Dharamtar in Alibaug to the Gateway of India in South Mumbai.
Mehta completed the distance in seven hours and 26 minutes after plunging into the Arabian Sea early this morning, said his father Gurucharan Mehta.
He was accompanied by coaches Kishore Patil and Sunil Gharat.
The swimming event was held under the banner of the Maharashtra Swimming Association.
Long distance swimming is not new to Mehta, who had earlier crossed the sea between Uran and the Gateway as an eight-year-old as well as covered a distance of 14km on the Hooghly river.
