Accused Dileep Jagdale (52), who is the ward officer with the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, was already under suspension for his failure to take action on encroachments in the city, Deputy Superintendent of Police, ACB Thane, Anjali Andale said.
He made a demand of Rs 1 lakh from the complainant for allowing him to run his Vada-Pav stall/cart while promising no action against him, Andali said.
The complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap, and caught him accepting a sum of Rs 25,000 as the first installment of the bribe amount, the DSP said.
