Police sources said the civic police constable, whose identity was not disclosed, lodged an FIR against the councillor Arun Bhowmik of being beaten up during an altercation over his car not folllowing traffic signal in a crossing at the bustling headquarters town.
Bhowmick, however, denied having beaten up the young civic cop, local youth being deployed on daily payment basis by the Barasat Police Commissiorate like elsewhere in the state and said there was only an argument.
