Civil areas under Cantt board to come under DMC: Sudhir

Centre has given in-principle permission to abolish cantonment board Yol near here and civil areas will come under the local Municipal Corporation, a state minister today said.
"The Civil areas now under Cantonment board shall be included in Dharamshala Municipal Corporation and Yol shall only be considered as a Military Station," Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma said.
He said Yol is the 1st Cant Board of India to be abolished to facilitate the civilians, which was made possible only due to the regular dialogue with the centre by the Himachal government.
"The Ministry of Defense, Government of India, has asked the state government to undertake the properties of the area," he said.

He said the staff of Cantt board shall be observed in Himachal Pradesh government and the five schools, vocational training center and 20 beded hospital buildings and land shall be purchased by HP government.
