Clashes in Srinagar

Clashes between stone-pelting youth and security forces were witnessed in a number of areas of Srinagar today after Friday prayers with Pakistani and Palestinian flags being hoisted at some places, police said.
After the prayers at the historic Jama Masjid, a group of youth, some of them carrying Pakistani and Palestinian flags, started shouting pro-freedom slogans and tried to march towards Nowhatta Chowk but were stopped by security forces, they said.
They then pelted stones on security personnel, who also resorted to tear-smoke shelling to disperse them, police said.
The clashes later spread to Nowhatta, Gojwara and Saraf Kadal areas. However, no casualty was reported.
