A Class XI student died allegedly after falling from the fourth floor of a government school building in Gokulpuri area of North East Delhi while flying kites, police said here today.
17-year-old Ravi Verma fell down from the school building when he was flying kite along with his friends on Friday evening, said a senior police officer.
Ravi lived with his parents at Gokulpuri. His father Brijendra Verma is a government employee.
"We have questioned the students who were accompanying Ravi at the time of the accident as well as staff of the school to rule out any foul play," he said.
The family members have alleged that their son was pushed down by one of his friends but prima facie we have not found any evidence to back it, said the officer.
Ravi was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital by the school staff, where doctors declared him brought dead. After autopsy his body was handed over to his family.
"We have visited the spot and inquired several persons including the students and teachers but nothing suspicious has surfaced so far. The exact cause of his death will come out after the post mortem report is received by us," he said.
A case has been registered at Gokulpuri police station in this connection under relevant sections of law and further investigation is going on, the officer added.
