Clerk arrested on graft charge

The vigilance department today arrested an acting chief clerk on graft charge from Bihar's Nalanda district, an official release said.
Acting on a complaint, the Vigilance Investigation Burean (VIB) team led by deputy superintendent of police Ajit Kumar Singh laid a trap and caught the acting chief clerk red-handed at his office as soon as he took Rs 6000 as bribe from the complainant, the release said.
The acting chief clerk posted at Rahui circle office had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe from the complainant for deputying an amin (a revenue department employee) to measure his land, it said.
He is being brought to Patna for interrogation to be followed by his production before a designated vigilance court for judicial remand, the release said.
The vigilance department has laid 27 traps and arrested 28 government servants on corruption charge this year.
