Noted designer Nikhil Mehra of designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil feels though there are enough stores and places available for women to shop, not much importance is given to fashion for men in India.
"The market for Indian men is ignored. There are not much dedicated stores to shop for men in India. They (men) are not given time and service. But today Indian men are indulging and taking interest in what to wear as per the occasion," Nikhil told PTI.
According to Nikhil, Indian men prefer to wear classic yet simple clothes.
"We have actors like Ranveer Singh who wear dramatic clothes. Hrithik Roshan recently tried something out of the box. Even Amitabh Bachchan amazes us when he wears colorful jackets," he added.
The designer duo showcased the best in men's couture at the Vogue wedding show groom's studio in South Mumbai early this week.
The guests witnessed an exclusive preview to Shantanu & Nikhil's wedding couture collection designed especially for the upcoming Vogue Wedding Show.
"The first collection was inspired by Kashmir region. We had taken inspiration from the floral patterns and presented it in a contemporary way. For the second collection Hyderabad was our inspiration. Its a textile based collection with block prints," Nikhil said.
"For the third collection the silhouettes were inspired by the costumes of Punjab. We have given a contemporary touch to the entire collection," he added.
The color palette of the collection consisted of dull gold, ivory, grey, navy blue among others.
The Vogue wedding show groom's studio is a prelude to Vogue wedding show 2016, a three day wedding exhibition showcasing the latest from the bridal world. The fourth instalment of the bridal extravaganza will be held from August 5 to 7 in New Delhi.
