The cloudy conditions over Maharashtra have kept the night temperatures high and would prevail for the next couple of days, a Met official said today.

"The weather stations across Maharashtra recorded a significant rise in the minimum temperature, which has kept the nights warmer. The extra moisture from the Arabian sea and the bay of Bengal have led to formation of clouds over state of Maharashtra. The same conditions will prevail for the next two days," Dr A K Srivastav, Head, Climate Monitoring and Analysis group, IMD, Pune, told PTI today.

Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Satara, Raigad, Chandrapur and Aurangabad districts have reported a rise of more than three degree Celsius in the minimum temperature today.

"It is a clear indication of clouds trapping the heat which has increased the minimum temperature across the state. It is a normal situation for April," he said.

The IMD (India Meteorological Department) report also pointed out that Akola reported the highest maximum temperature at 41.1 degree Celsius today in Maharashtra.

Santacruz observatory in Mumbai reported 35.6 degree Celsius as the maximum temperature while 26.6 degree Celsius as the minimum temperature, as per the report.

The ongoing weather conditions have also led to unseasonal showers in some parts of Maharashtra for the last 3-4 days. The areas include central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and parts of western Maharashtra.

The areas neighbouring Mumbai such as Badlapur and Kalyan also received some showers with medium intensity late evening, IMD officials said.
