Inaugurating a mass contact programme at Wayanad, he said tha foundation stone for the proposed college would be laid on July 12.
The initial phase of the project, consisting of a medical college and hospital, would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore. About 50 acres of land for the purpose as been provided by a private individual, he said.
In some parts of the district revenue officials were not accepting land tax from the farmers for their 'pattaya' land and the issue would be solved soon, Chandy said.
Financial assistance to 'sickle cell anemia' patients would be hiked from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 a month. A virology lab would be set up at Sulthanbathery to identify the Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), Chandy announced.
Construction work of an alternative road connecting Wayanad with Kozhikode will begin soon.
A special project would be implemented to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors in the district, he said.
